UPSC CSE Prelims 2025 Notification Out: Vacancies Reduced To 979 Posts
UPSC CSE : The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official notification for the UPSC Civil Services Prelims Exam 2025. Candidates can apply for UPSC CSE Prelims online through the official website of UPSC – upsc.gov.in. The last date to apply for the UPSC 2025 Prelims exam is February 11, 2025 (6 PM).
The UPSC is conducting a recruitment drive to fill approximately 979 vacancies in the Commission. Last year, UPSC had notified a total of 1,056 vacancies for CSE and 150 for IFoS.
UPSC CSE 2025: Eligibility Criteria
Nationality: To apply for the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025, candidates must meet specific nationality, age, and educational qualification requirements. For positions such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), the Indian Foreign Service (IFS), and the Indian Police Service (IPS), the candidate must be a citizen of India.
Age limit: Candidates must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have reached the age of 32 years as of 1st August 2025. This means the candidate must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1993 and not later than 1st August 2004.
Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold a graduate degree from a university recognized by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India, or from any other educational institution established by an Act of Parliament, or one that is declared to be a deemed university under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956. Alternatively, candidates must possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Commission.
UPSC CSE (Prelims) 2025: Application Fee
Candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs. 100 (Rupees One Hundred only). However, Female candidates, SC/ST candidates, and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities are exempt from the fee payment.
How To Apply For the UPSC 2025 CSE Prelims Exam?
Step 1: Visit the official website – upsconline.gov.in.
Step 2: It is mandatory to first register on the One-Time Registration (OTR) platform available on the Commission’s website.
Step 3: Once registered on the OTR platform, proceed with filling out the online application for the examination.
Candidates will be allowed to make corrections in any section of the online application form of the UPSC CSE 2025. The Commission will open the correction window from February 12 to February 18, 2025.
If a candidate wishes to make any changes to their One-Time Registration (OTR) Profile during this period, they must log in to the OTR platform and make the necessary updates. Please note that changes to the OTR Profile (Registration) cannot be made through the application form modification window.
