CISCE chief: Former academic director of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Joseph Emmanuel has been appointed as the chief executive and secretary of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). The new chief will take charge of the office from May 1. He has replaced Gerry Arathoon whose term ended in September last year.

In a letter to the heads of affiliated schools, the chairman of the council, G Immanuel, announced the appointment. With delight, this is to illuminate you that Dr. Joseph Emmanuel has been named the CEO and Secretary of the Gathering for the Indian School Authentication Assessments (CISCE) with impact from May 01, 2024,” the letter read.

As per his LinkedIn profile, Emmanuel filled in as the top dog at the Organization of Sanctioned Bookkeepers (ICAI) from September 1995 to November 2005. After two years, he was named as the appointee secretary in CBSE while he likewise filled in as the Official on Extraordinary Obligation (ODS) for clinical placement tests. In May 2012, he was appointed joint secretary, and in 2014, he was promoted to secretary.

Mahatma Gandhi University conferred the MCom and PhD degrees in commerce and finance on the new CISCE chief.

Gerry Arathoon “introduced and implemented several innovative initiatives in the organization, ensuring that it was among the most forward-thinking and child-friendly Education Boards in India” during his tenure as head of the board.
