Vidyanjali Programme: Education ministry seeks donations for higher education infrastructure

For the purpose of constructing infrastructure for higher education institutions (HEIs), the ministry of education is looking for “Vidyanjali Programme.” The commitments will go to the establishment through the Vidyanjali Establishment, set up as a not-revenue driven auxiliary of Training Specialists for lndia Restricted (EdClL), a public area organization.

The Vidyanjali Program began as a school volunteer program. According to a notice from the education ministry, the Vidyanjali program aims to collect contributions from private sources as well as non-governmental organizations, such as “CSR grants, national and international donors and impact investors.” The notice also emphasizes that such contributions will result in the inclusion of “private sector vigor” and have an impact on the speed and scale of the outcomes of the Vidyanjali plans.

The request for philanthropic contributions is part of the program. In order to specifically construct infrastructure in government HIEs, the Vidyanjali program was initiated. The official announcement states that the program intends to accomplish the objectives outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Dharmendra Pradhan, the union education minister at the time, had previously asked citizens to contribute to the Vidyanjali program during Diwali in November 2021.
