NMMS Scholarship Result 2023: The West Bengal School Education Department recently declared the results of the National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme Examination (NMMSE) for the year 2022. Students who appeared for the exam can now access their West Bengal NMMS result 2023 by visiting the scholarship portal of the state, scholarships.wbsed.gov.in.

Once selected for the National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme, students are required to register on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at scholarships.gov.in. The registration window is expected to open between July and August, and students must complete the registration process within the given timeline.

The National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme is a centrally sponsored scholarship available to students of Class 8 in West Bengal who have secured 55% or more marks in their Class 7 final examination. However, candidates belonging to SC, ST, and disabled categories are given a relaxation of 5% in the qualifying marks.

It’s worth noting that students studying in Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, state government-run residential schools, and private schools are not eligible to receive the National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme. The scholarship is only available to students studying in government and government-aided schools.

To be eligible for the National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme, students must be enrolled in recognized government schools, government-aided schools, local body schools, and government-sponsored schools, including Madrasahs that do not provide residential facilities. Only students studying in these types of institutions can apply for this scholarship.

In addition to studying in recognized government schools, government-aided schools, local body schools, and government-sponsored schools without residential facilities, students who wish to apply for the National Means cum Merit Scholarship Scheme must also meet the eligibility criteria related to parental income. The parental income of the student should not exceed ₹3,50,000 per annum to be eligible for the scholarship.
