LIT Nagpur to become university; will launch 14 new courses
Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra’s deputy chief minister, announced in the assembly in March 2023 that Laxminarayan Institute of Technology LIT Nagpur, which was funded and conceptualized by Rao Bahadur D Laxminarayan in 1930, will soon be weaned off Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) and become a state university.
Laxminarayan Innovation Technological University (LITU) will be created as a result. This will be the second establishment in the state to be so assigned after the School of Designing (COE), Pune. As a unit of RTM Nagpur University, a massive public institution with over 500 affiliated colleges, LIT had been experiencing delays in funding, administrative processes, and recruitment.
According to its director and alumni, the institution’s new status will allow it to rapidly modernize, launching new courses, centers, and departments, experimenting with novel teaching methods, and expanding and adding infrastructure and facilities.
