IIT Mandi to Host G20-S20 Meet
IIT Mandi: On Tuesday, the Indian Institute of Technology Mandi announced that it has been selected as the host for the G20-S20 (Science20) meeting, scheduled to take place from June 21 to 30, 2023.
The Indian Institute of Technology Mandi has announced its hosting of the G20-S20 (Science20) meeting, scheduled to take place from June 21 to 30, 2023. The institute stated that the purpose of this gathering is to facilitate collaboration among key stakeholders and experts, aiming to generate practical insights that can drive progress toward inclusive and sustainable development.
The event will commence on International Yoga Day, where researchers from the institute will showcase various technology-enabled yoga and meditation practices for holistic health. These demonstrations will include innovations such as posture-correcting Yoga mats and immersive meditation experiences through augmented and virtual reality.
Expressing his views on the G20-S20 Meet’2023, Professor Laxmidhar Behera, Director of IIT Mandi, emphasized the institute’s dedication to developing skilled manpower in crucial areas like sustainable development, climate-controlled agriculture, AI and robotics, drone technology, cloud computing, cyber-physical systems, manufacturing, and automation. These efforts, he believes, will support national initiatives such as Make-in-India and contribute to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of making India the Skill Capital of the world.
Prominent figures invited to speak at the event include Pratap Shukla, Governor of Himachal Pradesh; Sukhvinder Singh, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh; Mukesh Agnihotri, Deputy Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh; Harshwardhan Chauhan, Minister of Industries of Himachal Pradesh; Professor Ashutosh Sharma, Co-Chair of S20 and former DST Secretary; Satish Kumar, Chairman of ARB; and K K Pant, Director of IIT Roorkee, among others, according to IIT Mandi.
