IIT Bombay to introduce interdisciplinary dual degree in quantum technology soon
IIT Bombay: The Indian Institute of Technology IIT Bombay will begin an Interdisciplinary Double Degree Program (IIDDP) in Quantum Innovation soon.
Suddhasatta Mahapatra, an associate teacher of Physical science at the foundation, said the course would be presented by the Centre of Excellence in Quantum Information Computing Science and Technology (QuICST). Initiated in August 2022, the Middle points “to unite a different arrangement of mastery accessible at the IIT Bombay towards development, training and business venture in quantum science and innovations”. The QuICST is also led by Mahapatra.
He added that the IIDDP program would be open to students enrolled in any Bachelor of Technology (BTech) program at the institute. Mahapatra stated that the dual degree program would be a two-year program with courses that would focus on quantum technology and project work that could be completed with a QuICST-affiliated research group. The program’s structure has not yet been finalized.
This new program, like other dual degree programs, will allow students to earn a Bachelor’s and a Masters in five years. The third year of a BTech course allows students to select a program.
