Odisha to introduce Nua-O scholarship for UG, PG students
Nua-O scholarship: Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections, the Odisha government has decided to introduce the Nua-O scholarship for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Under the initiative, male students will get Rs 9,000 annually, while female students will receive Rs 10,000.
Male understudies having a place with SC/ST and Nirman Shramik (development laborer) families will get Rs 10,000, while female understudies of the classifications will get Rs 11,000 every year. Addressing understudies at the ‘Nu-O celebration’ at Jajpur on Tuesday, V K Pandian, executive of 5T (groundbreaking drive) and Nabin Odisha plot, said that the choice in such manner was taken at a cupboard meeting led by Boss Pastor Naveen Patnaik on the earlier day. According to Pandian, students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs at state universities, government and non-government-aided colleges, and Sanskrit colleges under the Higher Education department will be eligible for the scholarship. Understudies whose guardians are Annual Duty payees or are extremely durable government representatives wouldn’t have the option to profit of the grant, he said.
The Nua-O grant for the ongoing scholarly year will be stored in the ledgers of the qualified understudies from February 20 onwards. He stated, “This will be a new era of student empowerment in support of the CM’s vision of ‘Nabin Odisha’ (New Odisha).” A corpus of Rs 300 crore will be made and by August, Nua-O enchantment brilliant cards will be given to all qualified understudies, through which they would have the option to profit extra advantages, for example, transport or train travel, access Complimentary wireless internet, online courses, expertise improvement and instructing programs,” Pandian said. The Nua-O scholarship is expected to benefit approximately 4.5 lakh undergraduate students and 32,000 postgraduate students, he added.
