NMC introduces post-doctoral fellowship courses in medical colleges
NMC : Medical education regulator — National Medical Commission — has for the first time introduced post-doctoral fellowship courses in medical colleges regulated by it, in an effort to promote research and clinical skill development. Medical institutions till now were creating and approving these courses at their own level to train doctors.
The regulator recently notified “Post-Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023” according to which once a medical college is granted permission to start PG course or seats, the course will be treated as recognised.
This will tackle numerous hardships looked by understudies to enroll their certificate in the wake of passing postgraduate assessments, Dr Vijay Oza, Leader of Post-Graduate Clinical Schooling Leading body of the Public Clinical Commission (NMC) made sense of. According to the new guidelines which have supplanted the Postgraduate Clinical Schooling (Correction) Guidelines, 2018, the current NEET-PG assessment will go on till the proposed Public Leave Test (NExT) becomes functional with the end goal of PG confirmation.
The new guidelines express that all post-graduate understudies will fill in as all day occupant specialists and for “sensible working hours” and will be given “sensible time for rest” in a day.
They will be allowed a base 20 days of easygoing leaves each year and five days of scholastic each year. Dependent upon exigencies of work, post-graduate understudies will be permitted one week after week occasion, the new guidelines said. ” “In the past, there was no written leave provision,” Dr. Oza stated.
