NCERT Books | Kerala to Teach Deleted Parts from NCERT Books

NCERT Books: According to reports, on Tuesday, the Kerala State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) made a decision that certain portions that had been deleted by NCERT from class XI and XII textbooks as a part of their “syllabus rationalization” process will be taught to students in Kerala.

Insiders at SCERT have reported that the curriculum committee has decided that the deleted portions, specifically related to History, should be taught to students in Kerala. Furthermore, SCERT has decided to print supplementary textbooks within the state to facilitate the teaching of these portions.

According to sources, the committee has delegated the responsibility of making the final decision on this matter to the Education Minister.

Insiders at SCERT have stated that since the government has firmly opposed the removal of portions from textbooks, the state Education Department plans to implement the curriculum committee’s decision in principle to teach the deleted portions. This will be done by introducing supplementary textbooks for classes XI and XII.

Sources have indicated that while NCERT has rationalized the syllabus for classes VI to XII, Kerala only uses NCERT textbooks for classes XI and XII. Therefore, the changes made to the syllabus for other classes will not have an impact on students in the state.
