JEE Main 2025: NTA Releases Important Notice For PwD Candidates
JEE Main 2025 : The National Testing Agency, NTA has released the guidelines for the conduction of JEE Main 2025 for the candidates falling under the categories – Persons with Disabilities (PwD) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). The testing agency issued the official notification after it received multiple queries related to scribe and compensatory time for such students.
As per the official notification, candidates with disabilities (PwD and PwBD) will receive an additional hour of compensatory time for the three-hour JEE Mains 2025 exam. This means they will have a total of up to four hours to complete the paper. Additionally, the option for a scribe will be available upon presentation of the appropriate certificates.
“The National Testing Agency has been receiving several inquiries on issues related to scribe and compensatory time for PwD/PwBD candidates. The guidelines which will be followed for JEE Main with reference to relevant extracts of Government Notification and Office Memorandums are enumerated below,” NTA state in the official notification.
“The word “extra time or additional time” that is being currently used should be changed to “compensatory time”. It should not be less than 20 minutes per hour of exam for persons who are allowed use of scribe / reader / lab assistant. All the PwBD candidates who are eligible for availing the facility may be allowed additional time of minimum of one hour for examination of 3 hours whether they use the facility or not. Additional time should not be less than five minutes and should be in the multiple of five,” NTA added.
The National Testing Agency has not yet released the official schedule for JEE Mains 2025. As per media reports, NTA is expected to commence the online application process by the end of November 2024, but an official announcement is still pending. Candidates can register for JEE Main on the official website- jeemain.nta.ac.in.
