Foreign universities are awaiting guidelines to set up campuses in India, say UNISA officials. The Union government is expected to announce a policy on the matter soon, they said.
“We have been told that the policy is in the final stages of approval and should be announced soon. Once that happens, we will be able to take a call on setting up our campus in India,” said a UNISA official. The university is exploring the possibility of setting up a campus in India, he said.
“We are waiting for the policy announcement before taking a final decision. India is a huge market and we would like to have a presence here,” he said.
Another foreign university official said they were also awaiting the guidelines. “We are in touch with the authorities and are hopeful that the policy will be announced soon. We are keen on setting up a campus in India as the country offers a huge potential,” he said.
However, he said, the final decision will be taken only after considering all the aspects. “We will have to look at the regulations, the infrastructure and the market before taking a final decision,” he said.
