BHU allows pass out Bangladeshi students to continue hostel stay without fee

BHU : The Banaras Hindu University has allowed pass-out Bangladeshi students staying on campus to continue in hostels till the situation normalises in that country. The decision has been taken in the interest of students who have completed their studies at the university and were to vacate hostels as mandated upon the completion of the programme.

According to Professor SVS Raju, coordinator of the BHU’s International Centre, the university has decided that students who wish to continue their stay in university hostels will be permitted to do so and will receive all possible assistance. This decision was made in light of the difficulties that Bangladeshi students may face upon their return to their home country. They won’t be expected to pay any charges for that also.

“We have guaranteed the understudies that in the event that they face some other trouble during their visit nearby, the college will go to vital lengths to address that. They might remain here until the situation in Bangladesh improves,” he added.

A quota system that reserved 30% of government jobs for the families of veterans who fought in Bangladesh’s 1971 war of independence against Pakistan sparked protests last month in Bangladesh.
