University Of Manchester Scholarships: A Chance For Indian Students To Study In The UK

University Of Manchester : If you’re dreaming of studying in the United Kingdom but are worried about the cost, there are many scholarships available to help make your aspirations a reality. The University of Manchester offers a variety of prestigious scholarships to international students, including those from India, as part of its commitment to supporting deserving candidates financially.

1. Global Futures Scholarships

The Global Futures Scholarships are available to both undergraduate and postgraduate students. For the September 2025 intake, the University of Manchester will offer scholarships worth over £4.5 million (approximately Rs 49.68 crore). These scholarships are designed to make world-class education more accessible to international students, easing the financial burden of studying abroad.

Undergraduate Scholarships

For undergraduate students, the University offers merit-based scholarships of up to £24,000 (approximately Rs 26.5 Lakh)  (£8,000 per year for three years) to international students, including those from South Asian countries such as India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. These scholarships fall under the Global Futures Scholarships for South Asia programme.

To qualify, students must have applied for direct first-year entry in 2025 and meet the academic requirements, such as completing Indian Standard XII (CBSE, CISCE, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, etc.), A-levels, or the IB Diploma.

Applicants for Medicine (MBChB), Dentistry (BDS), Architecture, or any courses with an integrated foundation year are not eligible for the award.

Additionally, candidates must be self-funded (not sponsored) and meet specific residency criteria, having resided predominantly in their home country for the past three years.

Master’s Scholarships

The University also provides merit-based Global Futures Scholarships for postgraduate students, offering an £8,000 (approximately Rs 8.84 Lakh) discount on tuition fees. These scholarships are open to international students from South Asia who are self-funded and applying for full-time master’s programmes (excluding certain courses such as MBA, MPhil, and Clinical Medicine). To be eligible, applicants must have completed their undergraduate studies in South Asia.

2. GREAT Scholarships

In collaboration with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, the University of Manchester participates in the GREAT Scholarships 2025 programme. This initiative offers £10,000 in financial support to students from India and other select countries, helping them pursue one-year postgraduate studies in the UK.
