UGC NET : The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to begin the registration process for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) December 2024 soon. Last year, the application process for the December 2023 session commenced on September 30, 2023. However, due to a delay in announcing the June 2024 scorecards, the registration process for the December session has likely been postponed. Once the application commences, interested and eligible candidates can submit their application forms on the official websites at nta.ac.in or ugcnet.nta.ac.in.
Step 1. Visit the official website at ugcnet.nta.ac.in.
Step 2. On the homepage, locate and click on the UGC NET December 2024 application form link.
Step 3. Register by providing the necessary details.
Step 4. Complete the application form and make the required fee payment.
Step 5. Down the application form and confirmation slip. Take a printout for future reference.
The UGC NET is held for three hours. Candidates are required to answer a total of 150 multiple-choice and objective-type questions on both papers. There are usually 50 questions in NET Paper 1, each of 100 marks. This component assesses the candidates’ understanding of general awareness, reading comprehension, reasoning, research aptitude, and teaching. Paper 2 will evaluate domain knowledge with 100 questions for 200 marks, based on the candidate’s chosen subject.
Candidates must note that those in the unreserved category must score at least 40 per cent marks to pass the exam. While those belonging to the reserved category must score a minimum of 35 per cent marks to clear the June session test. The exam is held for a total of 83 subjects.
This University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test is held every year in June and December for candidates aspiring to be eligible for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Indian universities and colleges.
