UGC guidelines on university-industry linkage recommend paid internships, research

UGC : The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked the colleges and universities to implement the guidelines on ‘Sustainable and Vibrant University-Industry Linkage System For Indian Universities’ to strengthen collaboration between industries and universities.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked the schools and colleges to execute the rules on ‘Feasible and Energetic College Industry Linkage Framework For Indian Colleges’ to reinforce cooperation among enterprises and colleges.

The National Education Policy (NEP 2020), according to UGC, aims to foster innovation, employability, and economic expansion by establishing a link between academia and industry. By fortifying the college business linkage, the strategy tries to foster a labor force that is gifted, versatile, and equipped for adding to the country’s turn of events,” it said.

The commission might audit the execution of these rules by the colleges as a component of the NEP execution plan and go to lengths.

UGC had drafted the rules last year which suggested offering paid entry level positions for understudies, finding research points and directing examination, specific studios on science and innovation, setting up of seats and grant plans by ventures, offering custom-made courses, among others.

The rules likewise suggested laying out an Industry Connection Cell at the colleges and College Connection Cell at the organizations. The cell will chip away at recognizing the examination subjects and sources of financial support. The teachers of training will assist with working with joint effort between industry accomplices and the colleges. It additionally suggested bunches of colleges at the state level.
