Tripura’s first school boat service launches to ferry students for free

Tripura’s first school boat service: The Tripura School Education Department launched Tripura’s first school boat service to ferry poor students living on the islands of Dumbur Lake in Gumati district locale to their school for nothing. Children who live on the islands of Dumbur Lake are often unable to pay for a boat ride, making it difficult for them to get to school.

Students are nearly unable to get to school through water bodies during the monsoon. On Saturday, the education department of the school launched a “school boat” to free-of-charge transport students from their homes to the school.

The 48-island Dumbur Lake is 120 kilometers from the state capital, and fishing provides the majority of the residents’ income.
“Despite having 100 students, Dakmura Gumati Senior Basic School has low attendance due to a communication block. Around 50 understudies come from different islands of Dumbur Lake and they frequently neglect to go to class as they can’t stand to bear the voyaging cost as the boat is the main method for correspondence,” Chandni Chandran, State Venture Chief (SPD) of Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan told PTI on Sunday.
