Teachers’ organisations at Delhi University are dissatisfied with the batch sizes for UG and PG degrees.

Teachers' organisations at Delhi University are dissatisfied with the batch sizes for UG and PG degrees. In undergraduate programmes, the Delhi University has set a limit of 60 students each batch for lectures, 30 for tutorials, and 25 for practical sessions. The number of students in each batch for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes has been announced by Delhi University, drawing criticism from teachers' organisations for what they describe larger-than-ideal batch sizes. According to Registrar Vikas Gupta, the institution established the guideline to ensure consistency in the teacher-student ratio across all programmes. The DU has set 60 students per batch for lectures, 30 for tutorials, and 25 for practical sessions in undergraduate programmes, according to a notification sent to institutions on November 11.  These figures do not include supernumerary seats, which account for 5% of total capacity and are assigned to students based on sports and other criteria. The announcement stated, "The college may decide on mentor and mentee group size in accordance with the relevant requirements of the University Grants Commission's regulations as applicable from time to time." Democratic Teachers Front (DTF) called the announcement "absolutely ludicrous," claiming it violates academic council guidelines agreed by Delhi University as part of the Learning Outcome Based Curriculum Framework (LoCF).
