SSC CGL 2024 Tier 2 Exam: Last Date To Fill Option-cum-Preference Extended Till March 2

SSC CGL 2024 : The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has extended the last date to fill the Option-cum-Preference Form for posts and departments for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2024 exam till March 2, 2025. Earlier, the last date to apply was today, February 27.

Candidates appearing for the SSC Tier 2 exam can fill out the preference form by visiting the official website, ssc.gov.in. They will have to log in by going to the candidate login tab. After this, they will have to go to “My Application” and select their preferred posts and departments.

“The window for submission of Option-cum-Preference by the candidates of Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE), 2024 is extended and shall remain active till 02.03.2025 (11:59 PM). The candidates may exercise their Option-cum-Preferences, if required, before the closing date. The modality for submission of Option-cum Preference shall remain the same as indicated in the Important Notice dated 22.02.2025 of Combined Graduate Level Examination, 2024,” reads the official notice.

SSC CGL 2024 exam notification was released on June 24, 2024. The Tier-1 exam was held in the computer-based mode. The results were declared on December 5, 2024. Those who cleared the exam were shortlisted for the Tier-2 exam. It exam took place from January 18 to 20 and 31. Candidates must submit their preferred post/department choices via the preference form before the final result announcement.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) aims to recruit for a total of 18,174 vacancies across Group ‘B’ and Group ‘C’. Initially, the commission had announced 17,727 positions. The Department of Personnel and Training (Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions) has the highest number of vacancies with 1,433 openings for the position of Assistant/Assistant Section Officer (ASO in CSS). The Intelligence Bureau is seeking to fill 73 Assistant/Assistant Section Officer positions.

The SSC CGL exam comprises four tiers. The test assesses the candidate’s reasoning and quantitative aptitude in the initial tiers and evaluates writing skills and technical proficiency in later stages.
