SBI Recruitment 2025-26: Biggest Hiring In 10 Years To Fill 18,000 Vacancies

SBI Recruitment : Amid widespread job losses and a slowdown in recruitment across various sectors, the State Bank of India (SBI) has offered a rare note of optimism. The country’s largest public sector bank is preparing to launch its most extensive recruitment initiative in a decade during the 2025–26 financial year, with plans to appoint approximately 18,000 new staff members.

This large-scale hiring effort is aimed at strengthening SBI’s technological infrastructure and enhancing its general banking services. The move follows significant investments by the bank to reinforce its digital platforms, aligning with its long-term strategy of modernising operations.

SBI Recruitment 2025-26: Key Details

  • Total vacancies: 18,000
  • Junior Associates (General Banking): 13,500–14,000 positions
  • Probationary Officers (POs) and Local Based Officers (LBOs): Approximately 3,000 positions
  • Technical and Digital Banking Roles: 1,600 positions

The recruitment drive addresses multiple objectives, including filling vacancies created by retirements, supporting the expansion of SBI’s national branch network, and scaling up the bank’s digital and fintech capacities.

SBI Jobs: Announcement And Eligibility

SBI Chairman CS Shetty formally announced the recruitment plan during the bank’s fourth-quarter financial results for 2024–25.

Educational Qualification (General): Degree (in any discipline) required for most positions

Clerical Posts (Junior Associates):

Age Limit: 20 to 28 years

Relaxation: Age relaxations applicable for reserved categories

Probationary Officers (POs):

Age Limit: 21 to 30 years

Technical/Specialist Officer Posts:

Qualification: Degree or postgraduate degree in Engineering, IT, or related fields

Additional Requirement: Relevant work experience required for select roles

State Bank Of India Recruitment Procedure

The selection process will begin with a preliminary examination assessing candidates on:

  • Quantitative Aptitude,
  • Reasoning,
  • English Language,
  • General Awareness, and
  • Computer Knowledge.

Candidates who qualify will proceed to the main examination, followed by interviews for certain posts, including POs and Specialist Officers.

Application Fees

  • The application fee is expected to be Rs 750 for General, EWS, and OBC candidates (non-refundable).
  • Candidates from SC, ST, and PwBD categories may be exempt from the fee.
  • All payments are to be made online.
