A senior official announced on Monday that the former Health Secretary Preeti Sudan had been appointed as a member of the Union Public Service Commission (U.P.S.C.).
According to the official, Sudan, a retired I.A.S. officer from the Andhra Pradesh cadre from the 1983 batch, will receive the U.P.S.C. member’s oath of office on Tuesday.
She retired from her position as health secretary in July 2020.
Sudan also held positions in the Ministries of Women and Children and Defense.
She was in charge of finance and planning, disaster management, tourism, and agriculture in the cadre state of Andhra Pradesh.
The official stated that Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Ayushman Bharat, as well as legislation regarding the National Medical Commission, Allied Health Professional Commission, and the prohibition of electronic cigarettes, were among her notable contributions.
The UPSC can have no more than ten members and is led by a chairperson.
