The medical entrance exam was held on May 5. However, after the results were issued by NTA, reports of a paper leak case came to light. There were allegations of increasing the marks of 1563 candidates. After the release of the NEET UG Result 2024, several candidates filed a case at the Supreme Court. Following an investigation, the number of toppers came down from 61 to 17.

Meanwhile, the Education and Health Ministries are currently deliberating on whether to conduct the NEET-UG medical entrance exam next year in pen-and-paper mode or shift it to online mode. A decision on this matter is expected soon, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said last week. The Education Ministry has held two rounds of discussions with the Health Ministry, led by Union Minister JP Nadda.
