NEET PG 2024 Cut-off Reduced To 5th Percentile For All Categories

NEET PG 2024 : The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has further lowered the National Eligibility Entrance Test – Postgraduate (NEET PG) cut-off for 2024 to the 5th percentile. The decision comes as the MCC concluded the stray vacancy round of NEET PG counselling 2024.

With the reduction in the NEET PG cut-off percentile the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) is expected to announce additional rounds of NEET PG 2024 counselling to accommodate candidates who will now qualify due to the reduction in the NEET PG 2024 cut-off percentile.

Earlier this year, in January, the MCC revised the NEET PG qualifying cut-off for 2024, lowering it to the 15th percentile for the general category and 10th percentile for reserved categories.

The move follows an order from the Delhi High Court, which directed the Centre to lower the NEET PG 2024 cut-off after a petition was filed by aspirants. Additionally, the Indian Medical Association-Junior Doctors Network (IMA-JDN) had written to Union Health Minister JP Nadda, urging the reduction in the cut-off, citing the issue of unfilled medical seats, which they argued contributed to a shortage of healthcare resources.

“In continuation of NBEMS notice dated 06.01.2025 and pursuant to the directions of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India vide its letters No. U. 12021/05/2024-MEC dated 20th February 2025, the minimum qualifying percentile for NEET-PG 2024 have been reduced as follows,” stated the NBEMS in an official notice.

The NEET-PG 2024 examination was held on August 11, 2024, in two shifts for admissions to MD/MS/DNB/DrNB (Direct 6 years) and NBEMS Diploma Courses for the 2024-25 academic session. The result was declared on August 23, 2024.
