MMMUT Plans To Build Synthetic Track In Sports Complex And AC Hostels
MMMUT : The long-anticipated construction of a synthetic track and spectator gallery at Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT), Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) is nearing fruition. Approval for the project is expected during the upcoming meeting of the Finance Committee and Management Board. If the proposal receives green light, this highly awaited initiative will materialise with an estimated investment of around Rs 9 crore. The development of this synthetic track within the university’s sports complex will enhance the scope of sports activities, providing students with improved facilities and opportunities to excel in athletics.
Another significant advancement in the development of MMMUT is the proposed air-conditioned (AC) hostel, designed to accommodate 512 students, with an estimated cost of approximately Rs 46 crore. Preparations are underway for its construction, and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is currently being drafted. Among the 12 existing hostels at the university, 11 are in a state of disrepair and require urgent attention.
During the upcoming meeting, plans will also be discussed for renovating these ageing facilities. Upgrading these older structures will ensure safer and more comfortable living conditions for students, enhancing their overall campus experience.
MMMUT has developed a unique incentive program, aimed at recognising students and faculty members, who excel in research and patent development. This initiative proposes awards of up to Rs 2 lakh for outstanding research contributions and innovative patents. Such a move is expected to significantly boost research activities and motivate students to engage more deeply in the realm of innovation. This proposal is also set to be discussed during the upcoming meeting; if approved, it will elevate the standards of research within the university, fostering a more dynamic and inventive academic environment.
