MBOSE : The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) will conduct two Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination (SSLC) examinations in 2025, Sangma told PTI.

He said this proposal to amend the Meghalaya Board of School Education Regulation for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination 2011 was approved by the state cabinet on Friday.

This transition to have two SSLC assessments is to give another opportunity to understudies who didn’t breeze through the board test.

“MBOSE will hold two SSLC board exams annually beginning in 2025. The primary test will happen in February or early Walk, and the subsequent will permit understudies who flop taking all things together or a couple of subjects to retake the test inside one to two months which will be in May,” said Sangma.

According to the minister of education, this move is meant to help students by shortening the amount of time they spend waiting between attempts, which is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP)’s ongoing implementation.

From the academic years 2026 to 2027, the cabinet had also approved the decision to eliminate optional papers or “best of five papers.” As a result, all students will have to pass all six subjects on the board exam.

The bureau additionally endorsed the Assistance Rules for the Meghalaya Government funded School Administration Rules, the Meghalaya Subordinate Water Assets Designing Help Rules, 2024 and the Ranchers Strengthening Commission (Alteration) Bill, 2024.
