MAHE establishes centre for Kannada
A Centre for Kannada and Regional Languages will open at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, on December 11, in honor of Bharatiya Bhasha Diwas.
According to a press release from MAHE, the announcement follows the recent UGC declaration of Chinnaswami Subramania Bharathi’s birth anniversary as a commemorative day for Indian languages and to create a favorable environment for learning Indian languages in educational institutions.
According to the release, MAHE looks forward to establishing a dedicated Centre for Karnataka’s languages, particularly Kannada, Tulu, Konkani, Beary, and Kodava, in order to contribute to the national and international objectives of harnessing linguistic diversity in light of its impact on the United Nations Sustainable Development Groups (UNSDGs).
Teaching and research clusters on language pedagogy, translation, and literary arts will be housed in the Centre for Kannada and Regional Language Studies at MAHE’s Department of Languages (DoL).
