KIIT hosts event centred on gender equality and women empowerment

On April 22, 2023, the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) hosted the civil 20 (C20) event, which was focused on gender equality and women’s empowerment. The two-day event, which was part of the G20 framework, will be held on the KIIT campus. KIIT pioneer Achyuta Samanta was available in the highest point, alongside C20 director Amritanandamayi and others.

Samanta stated as the summit began: Through programs like Mission Shakti, which has empowered as many as 70 lakh self-help group women, the Odisha government is persistent in its efforts to focus on gender equality. He went on to say that women make up the majority of people on the KIIT campus, where women’s empowerment is a top priority. Amritanandamayi, chair of the C20, then took control of the program and stated: We should make the most of our hidden abilities. The world loses fifty percent of its productive population when women are suppressed. She additionally spoke to individuals present in the program to make good conditions for ladies, so they could prevail in varying backgrounds. She also stated that, despite advances in science and technology, women are still not recognized as equal. She stated, “One out of every four girls between the ages of 15 and 19 are frequently denied employment or education.”

Swami Amritaswarupananda, President of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, stated: Men must treat women as equals and have compassion for them. He advocated for a society in which men and women are financially and economically equal. The session was also attended by Phoolranee Rampadarath, permanent secretary of Mauritius’ Ministry of Gender Equality and Family of Government, and first chief of UN Academic Impact, Ramu Damodaran.
