International Education Day: Know history, significance, theme
On January 24, 2023, the fifth International Education Day is observed. “To invest in people, prioritize education” is this year’s International Education Day theme. This day is commemorated for the contribution that education makes to global development and peace.
The fifth celebration of International Education Day is dedicated by UNESCO to all Afghan girls and women who have been denied the opportunity to learn, study, and teach. The organization condemns this serious violation of the right to education and human dignity.
2023 International Day of Education: The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted a resolution on December 3, 2018, declaring January 24 to be the International Day of Education. On January 24, 2019, the first International Day of Education was observed.
The sincere efforts of the UN General Assembly have resulted in encouraging growth in the number of educated people who make up a cultural society that is supported by hope and opportunities.
2023 International Day of Education: At its headquarters in New York, UNESCO will observe International Education Day. The United Nations stated that “International Day of Education 2023 will be a global platform to sustain political mobilization, advance national commitments and global initiatives, and increase public engagement in favor of education as the path to peace, sustainable development, and individual and collective well-being.”
