IIT Roorkee : The Department of Hydro and Renewable Energy at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) organized an international workshop on hydrokinetic technology under its Centre of Excellence research and development initiative. The event attracted over 45 participants from various parts of India, and featured four prominent international speakers from Canada, Norway, Malaysia, and Germany who joined online to share their research.
The workshop was opened by adviser for the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) Sangita Kasture, who thanked both the participants and the organizers for their dedication to promoting environmentally friendly and carbon-neutral technologies. “This workshop is a testament to the innovative spirit and dedication of the participants and organizers,” Sangita Kasture stated. The conversations and discoveries introduced here will essentially add to making hydrokinetic innovation a feasible and solid sustainable power source.”
According to the IIT Roorkee official statement, the studio saw interest from different government substances including MNRE, UJVNL, DIBER-DRDO, and NVVNL-NTPC, as well as driving producers and industry partners like the Canadian Hydrokinetic Turbine Test Center, Energyminer, Flowing Sails, TERI, Kirloskar Siblings Gathering, Swasti Power Pvt. Flovel Energy Pvt. Ltd. MACLEC Pvt. Ltd., Maini Renewables, and Ltd. Additionally, educational establishments such as IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Madras, SCET Surat, BBEC Assam, and BITS Pilani presented the most recent results of their research on designs for hydrokinetic energy.
An overview of hydrokinetic technology, methods for evaluating hydrokinetic site potential, and presentations of both existing and future hydrokinetic technologies by delegates from India and abroad were among the various sessions that participants participated in throughout the workshop.
