IIT Mandi conducts orientation for UG class of 2024

IIT Mandi : The Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi (IIT Mandi) welcomed the new undergraduate (UG) batch of 2024 during an orientation event on August 3. Over 500 students from various parts of the country joined the 2024 batch, with more than 25 per cent of them being female. Additionally, 21 preparatory students, including 13 male and 8 female, also attended the orientation event.

introduced the students to the induction program, which gave them a general idea of the expectations and environment of the classroom. This induction program, which is led by faculty, aims to help students get ready for college, improve their skills and proficiency, and emphasize the impact engineering has on society.

The one-week enlistment program at IIT Mandi means to work with a smooth change for the new clump, setting them up to take part in a large number of scholastic and extracurricular exercises effectively. The program’s emphasis on students’ holistic growth is a key feature. They will take part in yoga, a hike to Kandi Peak, a nature walk on Arnehar Road, an athletics meet for freshmen, and other activities. The Art of Living team will also give the students a session to help them deal with stress and improve their overall health.

Anti-ragging, drug abuse prevention, cybersecurity, gender sensitization, and clinical hypnotherapy for ego strengthening and self-esteem will all be covered simultaneously in the orientation program.

IIT Mandi offers a different scope of undergrad programs. The institute places an emphasis on an interdisciplinary, hands-on approach to education, encouraging creativity and the ability to solve real-world problems. Along with a four-year Bachelor of Science in Chemical Sciences, students will pursue BTech degrees in a variety of fields, including computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, engineering physics, general engineering, bioengineering, microelectronics and VLSI, materials science and engineering, mathematics and computing, and data science.
