IIT Kanpur to convert Army stations into carbon-neutral campuses

The Indian Institute of Technology IIT Kanpur has consented to an arrangement with the Military Engineer Services (MES) Jhansi to change over Armed force stations into carbon-unbiased grounds.

Under the arrangement, five grounds under the MES Jhansi cantonment will be changed over into net zero carbon, net zero energy, net zero water and net no waste stations in a staged way. An official announcement states that the process will begin with the delivery of a sustainable resource utilization proof-of-concept plan to the selected Army campuses.

They will be evaluated based on energy sources, energy utilization, carbon impression, reception of manageable other options, planting of trees inside grounds, routine ascribes, etc. The understanding additionally incorporates preparing Armed force staff and making their asset pool through on-work preparing for supportable practices.

Colonel Akhil Singh Charak, Commander Works Engineer (CWE), and an IITK alumnus signed the agreement; Professor A R Harish, Dean of Research and Development at IIT Kanpur, and Major Sunny Attri, MES Jhansi’s Garrison Engineer. The agreement was signed in IITK in the presence of Professors Ashish Garg, Rajeev Jindal, and Aakash C Rai from the department of sustainable energy engineering.
