IIT Jodhpur introduces Master’s in Design Programme

IIT Jodhpur: IIT-Jodhpur has introduced a new programme called XR Design for Masters in Design (MDes) from the academic year 2023-24. This programme has been designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to thrive in the rapidly evolving field of extended reality (XR) design.

The XR Design programme is distinctive as it combines conventional design principles with state-of-the-art technology to equip graduates with the necessary skills for the future of design. Applications for the XR Design programme are currently open, and interested students can apply at sola.iitj.ac.in/xr-design/.

The online application link for institute-sponsored seats for admission to the first semester of the academic year 2023-24, starting in July 2023, will be active until May 21. For self-sponsored seats, the online link will remain active until May 14 for admission to the first semester starting in July 2023.

The XR Design programme aims to teach students how to create immersive experiences that incorporate elements of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality, for diverse applications such as healthcare and retail training, automotive simulations, digital twins in manufacturing, remote collaboration in workplaces, as well as gaming and entertainment.

The XR Design programme is open to students from different educational backgrounds, such as graphic design, architecture, and engineering. Participants will have the opportunity to work with industry-standard software and hardware, including Unity, Unreal Engine, Maya, and various headsets, to design immersive experiences.
