IGNOU organizes two-day conference on interdisciplinary frontiers
IGNOU: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) organized a two-day national conference on “Exploring Interdisciplinary Frontiers: Challenges and Opportunities” in association with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts.
The seminar, which was put on by the School of Interdisciplinary and Trans-disciplinary Studies (SOITS), was about a wide range of topics like climate change, migration and diaspora, sustainable development, gender issues, occupational health, waste management, environmental issues, including an Indian Knowledge Systems perspective, human values, ethics, and so on.
The workshop included feature addresses, board conversations, paper introductions, and intuitive meetings. It likewise supported dynamic investment, and information dividing between participants. The seminar was attended by a number of researchers, faculty, professionals, policymakers, and practitioners.
In an official statement, IGNOU stated, “The conference also served as a platform for interdisciplinary exchange, fostering collaborations and initiating dialogues to navigate the challenges and leverage the opportunities presented by interdisciplinary frontiers.”
In his address to the inaugural session, Professor Dhananjay Singh, member secretary of the ICSSR, emphasized the advantages of interdisciplinary studies in social science and science. He said that cultural issues like orientation imbalance, environmental change and ecological issues require an interdisciplinary methodology.
In terms of creating reality and knowledge systems, Professor Kapil Kapoor contrasted Indian and Western culture.
Professor Nageshwar Rao, vice-chancellor, praised Professor Kapoor and stated that he had influenced a generation of students in his presidential address.
