On Friday, in Ambala, Haryana’s Health and AYUSH Minister Anil Vij announced his intention to include Ayurveda topics in the state’s MBBS program. In order to offer patients an alternative treatment, he stated that the use of ayurvedic medicines should be increased in comparison to that of allopathic ones. In addition to allopathic treatments, state government workers will be reimbursed for Ayurvedic ones, the minister announced. Additionally, he stated that the government is promoting Ayurvedic medicine as a treatment option.
The minister stated, “Like allopathic medicines, now Ayurvedic medicines will also be reimbursed. I issued orders in this regard yesterday (Thursday).” According to Vij, a scientific diagnosis ought to be made before prescribing Ayurvedic medicines in the same way that an allopathic doctor diagnoses a patient.
He stated that the state government is consistently working to broaden the public’s exposure to yoga and Ayurveda. The AYUSH Department was given a separate status at the most recent cabinet meeting, allowing it to maintain its own identity in line with that of other departments. The state government has set up a Yoga Commission to help spread the word about yoga. In the state, the government has pledged to construct yogashalas in 6,500 villages. He stated that 1,000 yogashalas have already been constructed, and the remaining ones are in the process of being built.
The minister also stated that the AYUSH University in Kurukshetra has been established to promote alternative treatments. Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy are all included in the AYUSH stream of healthcare and treatment, he stated. According to Vij, the National Institute of Ayurveda will be built in Panchkula for approximately Rs 270 crore. He also said that a hospital with 250 beds will be built on the campus. He stated that a Naturopathy Hospital is being constructed in Dever Khana in the Jhajjar district, a Homeopathic College was established in Ambala Cantt, and an Unani College had been established in Nuh. He stated that the state has approximately 569 AYUSH health wellness centers, four Ayurvedic hospitals, six AYUSH primary health hospitals, 19 Unani hospitals, 26 homoeopathic hospitals, 21 AYUSH wings, and a separate AYUSH wing in each district hospital in Haryana.
