An official stated on Thursday that approximately 1,700 students have applied for the Financial Support Scheme (FSS) at Delhi University. Students from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) are eligible for the program. The official stated that the university has not yet released the final list of students who will benefit from the scheme after reviewing the applications.

The last day to apply for the scheme was January 31.

For the fee waiver program, we have received approximately 1,700 applications thus far. According to the official who spoke with PTI, “this scheme will extend the benefits of equity, access, and quality to the financially weak students with excellence, both in letter and spirit.”

The government’s “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas” slogan inspired the DU to announce the plan in November of last year.
Except for the examination fee and the hostel fee, the waiver covers all fees paid by students.

Depending on their family’s income, economically disadvantaged students may qualify for a fee waiver of up to one hundred percent. It is open to legitimate full-time university students who wish to apply.

The official stated, “Students with a family income of less than Rs 4 lakh (annually) will be eligible for up to 100% fee waiver, while students with a family income of Rs 4 lakh to 8 lakhs can apply for a 50% waiver.”

The official stated that a list will be prepared to determine who is eligible based on their family income.

“Whether the students are eligible for a half or full waiver will be determined. The official added, “We might call the students for an interview if there is any confusion.”

According to the official, students who have ER (essential repeat) and past exam paper arrears cannot apply.
Students applying for the program were required to submit a copy of their fee receipts, copies of their parents’ income tax returns whenever applicable, and an annual family income certificate issued by the tehsildar or another competent authority.

A copy of the student’s bank passbook with the student’s name, account number, and the bank’s IFSC code and a photo were also sought.
