Delhi University to provide PhD admissions via CUET from academic year 2023-24

Officials at Delhi University announced on Friday that beginning in the upcoming academic year, the Common University Entrance Test (PhD) administered by the National Testing Agency will be used to admit students to PhD programs. This will be the university’s first time using a single test to admit students to PhD programs instead of interviews and written tests. A number of resolutions, including the five-year LLB program, were approved at the Executive Council meeting, during which the decision was made.

According to a statement released by the university, “PhD admission will be done on the basis of CUET (PhD)-2023 based on the recommendation of the Standing Committee of the Academic Council.” “After deliberations on various matters related to admission and attendance of Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and PhD programmes for the academic session 2023-24, the same were also accepted by the Executive Council (EC).”

The Delhi College (DU) began bringing entrance into undergrad programs through CUET-UG last year and will concede understudies into postgraduate projects through CUET PG. The National Testing Agency (NTA) will administer the national-based CUET (PhD)-2023 entrance exam. However, officials confirmed that individuals serving in the teaching and non-teaching categories at the university can directly appear for interviews. It’s possible that teaching and non-teaching staff members will be permitted to attend classes and take exams without having their responsibilities during office hours affected. These guidelines for PhD will be material from the scholarly meeting 2023-2024,” it added.
