Delhi University to offer 2 seats in UG, PG courses to orphans
Officials announced on Friday that, beginning with the upcoming academic year, all undergraduate and postgraduate programs at Delhi University will provide orphans with two seats each under a supernumerary quota.
They claimed that these students would also be exempt from paying any fees at all. On Friday, the Executive Council meeting of the varsity approved the proposal in this regard. An official stated, “The proposal to offer admission to orphans in every undergraduate and postgraduate program offered at the university starting in the next academic year was passed today by the Executive Council.”
According to the agenda accessed by PTI in this regard, “Such students, when admitted, will be exempt from payment of any kind of fees which will include exemption from payment of their hostel fees, examination fees, and other such mandatory fees as well.” It stated that the University Welfare Fund or College Students’ Welfare Fund, as appropriate, would cover the costs of these students’ admission and continued education.
In the meantime, members demanded that teachers not be displaced and raised the issue of ad hoc teachers being absorbed. We brought up the issue of teachers being displaced, which was thoroughly discussed. Seema Das, a member of the Council, stated, “We demanded that the ad hoc teachers be accommodated.”
