Delhi School Admissions 2025: First Draw Of Lots For EWS, DG Categories Today

Delhi School Admissions : The Delhi Directorate of Education (DoE) will conduct the first draw of lots for the admissions under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Disadvantaged Group (DG) category for the 2025-26 academic session today, March 5, 2025. Delhi’s Education Minister, Ashish Sood, announced that the draw will be held at the Conference Room of the Education Department at the Old Secretariat at 2.30 PM on Wednesday.

During the conference, Sood stated, “The draw of lots for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) will take place at the Old Secretariat on Wednesday at 2.30 pm in the presence of parents.” He added that the process will be entirely transparent and conducted with both parents and media representatives present.

To address space constraints at the venue, multiple television screens will be set up to improve visibility for attending parents, he noted.

Sood also mentioned that 2.5 lakh applications have been received, and the draw of lots will be carried out for the admission of 38,000 students.

“The income eligibility limit for admission under the EWS category has been increased to Rs 5 lakh,” he added.

To ensure transparency, the education minister said that the computerized draw of lots will be broadcast on television, with a standard SOP prepared for the process.

He further explained that EWS students had previously faced challenges securing admission, but to address this, selected students will now receive a slip after document verification, which no school will be allowed to deny.

Sood reiterated that the Delhi government is committed to transparency and efficiency in all sectors, and the results of these efforts will be evident soon.
