Delhi Nursery Admission 2025: Selection Criteria

The DoE manages a centralised online admissions process for 25 per cent of seats reserved for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS). Furthermore, as per the guidelines, the minimum age for admission is three years for Nursery, as of March 31, 2025. The upper age limit is four years. Schools have the flexibility to grant a relaxation of up to 30 days in the age limit upon parental request.

The selection process uses a point system in which specific scores are assigned to different criteria. The highest weight is given to neighbourhood proximity, indicating the importance of geographical location in the admissions process.

Siblings and alumni connections are two additional criteria. Some schools even take into account factors such as being a firstborn, being a girl child, or having a single parent. Additionally, parental qualifications, occupation, and financial status are purposefully excluded from the selection procedure. Schools have the freedom to define and assign marks to each criterion based on their preferences. Certain institutions also have special provisions for specific groups, such as Sikh and Christian minorities or families from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
