Delhi: MCD seeks support from NGOs, private firms for development of smart classes, libraries

According to Delhi: MCD officials on Tuesday, the development of smart classrooms, libraries, and school buildings require support from NGOs and private businesses. In a statement, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi said that it has started the “Vidyasthali Project” to create a “superior learning environment” in its schools for students’ holistic development.

The project invites a variety of private businesses and non-governmental organizations to support and improve the facilities and infrastructure of the schools run by the civic body.

The statement read, “MCD is looking forward to active support from various NGOs and private companies, in areas like development of smart classes, library development, development of nursery classes, development of material for a resource center for children with special needs, improvement of school building, human resources, sports, fully-furnished computer and science labs, and other facilities.”

It stated that proposals are invited from businesses, industries, government and non-government organizations, and organizations that have funds for CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) in order to ensure the holistic development of children.

According to the statement, senior education department officials stated that numerous NGOs and businesses are already working in several MCD-run schools to develop facilities comparable to those found in modern schools.
