Delhi LG approves revival of 29 posts of principal, deputy education officer

Delhi LG : Lt Governor V K Saxena has approved the revival of 29 posts of principal and deputy education officer that were lying vacant from 2019 to 2021 in schools run by the Delhi government, Raj Niwas officials said on Saturday. Saxena also accepted the recommendation for abolishing six such posts as they were considered to be falling under the ‘immediately abolishing’ category for lying vacant for more than five years, they added.

The official stated, “This step was taken following the recommendation by the GNCTD’s Finance Department and Administrative Reforms (AR) Department after they conducted necessary assessment.” In 2019, two posts of head/agent training official were empty and there were two additional opening in 2020. The records show that 23 of these positions were unfilled in 2020, and two more were unfilled by April 2021. Among the six abrogated posts, three were lying empty starting around 2013-14, two from the year 2014-15 and one starting around 2016-17, the authority said.

After conducting an examination in April 2023, the education department received approval from the Delhi LG to revive 126 posts and create 244 principal/deputy education officer positions in the Directorate of Education—in addition to the 370 positions that were to be filled through promotion—for the 2013–2014 to 2019 vacancy year. Be that as it may, while the proposition was getting looked at in the AR, money and arranging divisions, more posts fell in the ‘considered annulled’ classification and a few posts were thought about over again for recovery/nullification. While presenting the proposition in such manner, the schooling division said that the posts were as yet fundamental for the smooth working of the division, he said.
