The mission was launched by Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya M. Scindia along with Himanta Biswa Sarma. The project seeks to strengthen the entire Muga silk value chain, from cultivation and production to branding, exports, tourism, and digital traceability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_Muga_Silk\"><\/span>What is Muga Silk?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Muga silk is a unique variety of silk produced exclusively in Assam. Known for its natural golden sheen, exceptional durability, and cultural significance, it is often referred to as the \u201cGolden Silk of Assam.\u201d It is also India&#8217;s first silk product to receive a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, making it a distinctive heritage product with international recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Objectives_of_Mission_Senehjori\"><\/span>Objectives of Mission Senehjori<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The primary objective of Mission Senehjori is to create a premium, traceable, and export-oriented Muga silk economy.
