The conference was organized by the Ministry of Cooperation as part of the government\u2019s broader effort to strengthen cooperative institutions across the country, especially in the North-Eastern region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conference brought together representatives from all North-Eastern states, senior government officials, cooperative institutions, NABARD, NAFED, NCCF, NDDB, NFDB, and NEDFi. The event highlighted the government\u2019s commitment to cooperative-led rural development and economic inclusion in remote regions of India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Focus_on_Cooperative_Reforms_in_North-East_India\"><\/span>Focus on Cooperative Reforms in North-East India<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The conference emphasized that the North-East possesses immense potential in sectors such as organic farming, fisheries, horticulture, bamboo products, spices, and forest-based enterprises. However, geographical isolation, low connectivity, and scattered populations have historically slowed economic development in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ministry of Cooperation stressed that cooperative societies can become a powerful tool for empowering farmers, women, youth, and rural entrepreneurs. Cooperative models help communities collectively market products, obtain financial support, improve storage facilities, and strengthen local economies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Special attention was given to strengthening Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), dairy cooperatives, fisheries cooperatives, and cooperative banking institutions. According to him, the region requires customized solutions because of its unique geography and socio-economic conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He emphasized that cooperative reforms must be flexible and adapted to local conditions rather than imposing a uniform national model.
