Kapoor is a <strong>1990-batch IPS officer<\/strong> belonging to the <strong>Haryana cadre<\/strong> with decades of experience in policing and security. He officially assumed charge of the post following the ceremonial handover from Praveen Kumar at the ITBP headquarters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kapoor is expected to serve as DG, ITBP, <strong>until his superannuation on October 31, 2026<\/strong>. He succeeds the former BSF chief and will hold this crucial command <strong>until September 30, 2030<\/strong> \u2014 the date of his retirement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before this appointment, Kumar was serving as ITBP Chief and had also handled <strong>additional charge of BSF Director-General<\/strong>, showcasing his versatility and depth in border security management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The BSF is tasked with guarding India\u2019s international borders with <strong>Pakistan and Bangladesh<\/strong> and is a key pillar of the nation\u2019s <strong>internal security apparatus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Significance_of_These_Appointments\"><\/span><strong>Significance of These Appointments<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>These appointments mark an important leadership transition in India\u2019s paramilitary forces.
