The oath of office was administered by <strong>Governor Om Prakash Mathur<\/strong> at a formal ceremony held in <strong>Lok Bhawan<\/strong>, attended by senior officials, ministers and members of the legal fraternity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Justice Mustaque succeeds <strong>Justice Biswanath Somadder<\/strong>, who retired from the position in December 2025. Muhamed Mustaque previously served as a <strong>Judge and Acting Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court<\/strong>, where he gained considerable experience in handling complex civil and constitutional matters. He has been recognised for his administrative capabilities and commitment to judicial reforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Educated in law, Mustaque has also pursued advanced studies in areas such as <em>space and telecommunications law<\/em> and <em>international law<\/em>, enhancing his legal acumen and broad understanding of contemporary legal challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Role_and_Importance_of_the_Chief_Justice\"><\/span><strong>Role and Importance of the Chief Justice<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Chief Justice of a High Court<\/strong> plays a pivotal role in the <strong>administration of justice<\/strong>, including case allocation, judicial supervision, court management and ensuring timely justice for litigants.
