Built at an estimated cost of <strong>\u20b94,000 crore<\/strong>, this project is integral to boosting tourism, connectivity, and economic growth for Assam and its neighbouring states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_Terminal_That_Blends_Nature_With_Modernity\"><\/span><strong>A Terminal That Blends Nature With Modernity<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The terminal is designed around the theme <strong>\u201cBamboo Orchids,\u201d<\/strong> showcasing Assam\u2019s indigenous <strong>orchids (known locally as Kopu Phool)<\/strong> and extensive use of <strong>bamboo<\/strong>\u2014a culturally significant material in the region. More than <strong>2,000 plant species<\/strong> and nearly <strong>one lakh plants in the \u201cSky Forest\u201d zone<\/strong> have been incorporated into the architecture, creating an immersive environment for travellers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This unique approach blends <strong>modern infrastructure with ecological aesthetics<\/strong>, offering passengers a calm, nature-inspired ambience while waiting for flights. The architectural features also include <strong>bamboo vaults<\/strong>, <strong>cultural artefacts representing Majuli Island<\/strong>, and elements inspired by <strong>Kaziranga National Park<\/strong>\u2014celebrating Assam\u2019s heritage<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Enhanced_Passenger_Experience_and_Connectivity\"><\/span><strong>Enhanced Passenger Experience and Connectivity<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spread over approximately <strong>1.4 lakh square metres<\/strong>, the new terminal will handle up to <strong>13.1 million passengers annually<\/strong> once fully operational. By increasing passenger handling capacity and integrating high-end aviation technology, the Guwahati airport is poised to serve as a major hub for <strong>regional and international connectivity<\/strong>, especially towards Southeast Asia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prime Minister Modi also unveiled an <strong>80-foot statue of Lokapriya Gopinath
