Under DHRUVA, every physical address \u2014 whether in a remote village, a busy town or a metropolitan city \u2014 will be assigned a unique Digital Address Identifier (DAI). This identifier will serve as a verifiable, geo-coded digital address that can be used across government, private services, e-commerce, logistics, welfare schemes, banking, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unlike traditional addresses that often vary in format and may cause confusion (especially in rural or informal settlements), DHRUVA aims to create a uniform, interoperable and reliable address infrastructure for the country\u2019s entire population.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Key_Components_of_the_DHRUVA_Framework\"><\/span>Key Components of the DHRUVA Framework<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The DHRUVA system rests on two major layers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>DIGIPIN (Digital Postal Index Number):<\/strong> A 10-character alphanumeric geo-code representing precise latitude\u2013longitude coordinates. Each DIGIPIN corresponds to a small, fixed area \u2014 about 14 square metres \u2014 ensuring high granularity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Digital Address Layer:<\/strong> On top of the DIGIPIN backbone, DHRUVA allows users to create user-friendly \u201cvirtual address labels,\u201d similar in concept to an email address or UPI handle (e.g., name@entity). These virtual labels act as proxies for the full physical address + geo-coordinates, simplifying address sharing across platforms. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This \u201cAddress-as-a-Service (AaaS)\u201d model enables seamless, consent-based sharing of address information \u2014 for government schemes, banking KYC, e-commerce deliveries, logistics, emergency services, and more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Legislative_Backing_and_Governance_Architecture\"><\/span>Legislative Backing and Governance Architecture<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To operationalise DHRUVA nationwide, the Department of Posts has proposed amendments to the Post Office Act, 2023. Instead, they can provide their virtual address label (or DAI), which can be reused \u2014 like how UPI IDs simplify payments. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Privacy &amp; Consent-Based Data
