The city recorded a monthly average PM2.5 concentration of <strong>224 \u00b5g\/m\u00b3<\/strong>, significantly breaching the national safety limits on <strong>all 30 days<\/strong> of the month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Ghaziabad held the top position, several other NCR cities \u2014 including Noida, Bahadurgarh (Haryana), Delhi, Hapur, Greater Noida, Baghpat, Sonipat (Haryana), Meerut, and Rohtak \u2014 joined the list of the 10 worst-affected cities in terms of air pollution. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Scale_of_Pollution_Days_of_Hazardous_Air_Quality\"><\/span>Scale of Pollution: Days of Hazardous Air Quality<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In Ghaziabad, as per CREA\u2019s November snapshot, there were <strong>19 \u201cVery Poor\u201d days<\/strong>, <strong>10 \u201cSevere\u201d days<\/strong>, and only <strong>one \u201cPoor\u201d day<\/strong> \u2014 indicating near-constant exposure to dangerously high levels of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) throughout the month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The situation wasn\u2019t restricted to Ghaziabad alone. Across the NCR, 20 out of 29 monitored cities logged higher PM2.5 levels in November 2025 than in November 2024 \u2014 underlining a persistent and disturbing trend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Pollution_Drivers_Beyond_Crop_Burning\"><\/span>Pollution Drivers Beyond Crop Burning<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Interestingly, the report noted a significant reduction in pollution from agricultural stubble-burning this year: its contribution to Delhi\u2019s pollution dropped to an average of <strong>7%<\/strong> in November, down from <strong>20%<\/strong> the previous year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite this decline, air quality has worsened \u2014 making it clear that the primary culprits behind the worsening pollution are <strong>year-round sources<\/strong> such as vehicular emissions, industrial activities, power plants, construction dust, and other combustion-related processes, and not just seasonal agricultural fires. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Nationwide_Impact_Pollution_Crisis_Across_States\"><\/span>Nationwide Impact: Pollution Crisis Across States<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The problem is not confined to NCR alone. According to the CREA data:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the state of Rajasthan, <strong>23 out of 34<\/strong> monitored cities exceeded the national PM2.5 limits in November. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Similarly, high pollution levels were widespread in states like Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Punjab. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the flip side, Shillong (Meghalaya) was found to be the cleanest city in November, with a PM2.5 concentration of just <strong>7 \u00b5g\/m\u00b3<\/strong>, highlighting the stark contrast in air quality across India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Health_and_Policy_Implications\"><\/span>Health and Policy Implications<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The high levels of PM2.5 \u2014 microscopic particles smaller than 2.5 micrometers \u2014 pose serious health risks. These particles can penetrate deep into the lungs and even enter the bloodstream. Long-term exposure is linked to respiratory illnesses like asthma and bronchitis, cardiovascular diseases, and increased mortality risks, especially among children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing health conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CREA report highlights that the current pollution surge underscores the urgent need for <strong>sector-specific emission reductions<\/strong>, better urban planning, robust waste-management systems, enforcement of dust-control norms at construction sites, and a shift toward cleaner energy and transportation solutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr
