Narayanan inaugurated the <em>Ananth Centre of Excellence for Navigation<\/em> (ACEN) \u2014 the first private-sector navigation technology hub in India \u2014 at Kinfra Park in Thiruvananthapuram.<br>This event marks a major milestone, symbolizing the opening of navigation system development in India to the private sector. ACEN has been established by Ananth Technologies, a company with long-standing collaboration with ISRO and defence agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_Is_ACEN_and_Its_Purpose\"><\/span>What Is ACEN and Its Purpose<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>ACEN aims to develop and manufacture advanced navigation technologies \u2014 including inertial sensors, quantum sensors, and AI-driven algorithms \u2014 for multi-modal navigation systems that integrate satellite-based navigation, inertial navigation, vision, and radar. <br>Another critical function of ACEN will be the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of navigation systems \u2014 something that India, until now, often relied on foreign vendors for, creating strategic vulnerabilities and delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Strategic_Significance_Defence_Space_Civilian_Applications\"><\/span>Strategic Significance: Defence, Space &amp; Civilian Applications<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigation systems are the \u201cinvisible backbone\u201d of modern defence platforms, space missions, aircraft, ships, and civilian infrastructure. The reliance on foreign GPS and navigation solutions has long posed risks \u2014 especially during conflicts or geopolitical tensions. <br>With ACEN, India aims to develop <strong>full-spectrum autonomy<\/strong> in Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) technologies. As production scales, we can expect reduced costs for navigation systems, increased availability and maintenance, and accelerated innovation.<br>Moreover, with private players like Ananth Technologies contributing, India can hope to shorten timelines for future space and defence projects \u2014 ultimately enhancing strategic autonomy, readiness, and technological competitiveness
