This change, announced on <strong>21 November 2025<\/strong>, replaces <strong>Neeraj Mittal<\/strong>, who has been appointed as Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Profile_of_Amit_Agrawal\"><\/span>Profile of Amit Agrawal<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Amit Agrawal is a <strong>1993-batch IAS officer<\/strong> belonging to the <strong>Chhattisgarh cadre<\/strong>.  Before this appointment, he served as Secretary of the <strong>Department of Pharmaceuticals<\/strong>, a post he assumed in December 2024. As Telecom Secretary, Agrawal will be responsible for overseeing key initiatives including digital infrastructure development, spectrum management, telecom policy implementation, and regulatory coordination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Neeraj_Mittals_New_Role\"><\/span>Neeraj Mittal\u2019s New Role<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Neeraj Mittal, who served as Telecom Secretary since September 2023, has been reassigned to the <strong>Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas<\/strong> as its Secretary. During his telecom tenure, Mittal played a strategic role in promoting India\u2019s <strong>indigenous telecom technology stack<\/strong>, and he oversaw <strong>BSNL\u2019s deployment of nearly 1 lakh 4G sites<\/strong>. He also chaired the <strong>Digital Communications Commission<\/strong>, contributing significantly to telecom reforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" Waterways Authority of India<\/strong> with Secretary-level rank<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>These transfers reflect a broader government push to reinforce leadership across sectors vital to
